Credit is so much more important that being used for buying thing you do not have the money to buy now days. You see more and more insurance companies, employers, and others are using your credit score to grade you as a person. This in my option is more than absurd. However, that is the cold hard facts and that is the game you need to learn to play by there rules to fix your bad credit issues. You need to prove to everyone you are credit worthy again and there are many effective ways to do that quickly provided you understand the rules of this very strange game.
Many people have bad credit and it is completely not there fault. They have been laid off, there is a sick family member, or one of the many other unforeseen events has landed them in financial distress. I personally do not believe there are that many people out that simple do not have any intention of paying there bills. Most are people that have a landed in a bad spot, for whatever reason, through no fault of there own. Many times the financial crises is short and can be corrected quickly. However, by them there credit is ruined and then the real fun starts. You see once your credit is ruined many financial, insurance, utility companies and more importantly employers assume you are a dead beat. Let me give you a perfect example.
I had a friend that ended up laid off from hit Information technology job some years back. Months went by and he go behind on his bills. He had always been the model of financial soundness, but he simply ran out of money. He had save some money but not as much as he would have liked doing the right thinks like paying off collage loans, buying his first house and all the other things we all have done.
One day he called me and was sure he had this great job on this new project and could not wait to get started. His experience was prefect and he seams to have the job wrapped up. He got a call a couple days later, and was told they would love to hire him but he failed his background check. He had never been in trouble with the law nor done anything he could imagine, that would cause him to fail a background check. They explained that it was his credit history. He explained that he had had perfect credit before he had gotten laid off. The project manager explained that he would love to hire him anyway, but that was company policy and there was nothing he could do. He suggested he try crediting counseling, and coming back and reapplying when he credit was in good standing. I told him to try IT consulting companies there were more interested in excellent work experience and his track record, than his financial condition.
Several months later in even worse financial condition he got a job with a IT consulting company. The project and client they were going to assign him too, sounded familiar somehow. As it turns out, he ended up at the company that would not hire him in the first place, working as a consultant. He was afraid what had kept him from getting that job with the client in the first place, would now get him fired from his new job if they would not let him work there. However, the same guy that interviewed him was there and seamed very glad to see him. He had hired a couple of other programmers and both had failed. The project went on for over a year. They paid the consulting prices and my friend completed the project right on time and a bit under the contracted budget.
By now he knew the project manager real well so at the end of the project he asks him. Why on earth would you pay three or four times the price for me to work on this project when you could have just hired me to do the job a year and a half ago? He again explained it was just company policy. The project manger asks him if his credit was any better. He told them that all the problems had been resolved and most of the late accounts had long sense been paid off. He asks him if he would consider coming to work for him. After thinking long and hard on the offer that would have meant a pretty big raise, he declined and explained the decision to me like this. He did not want to work for a place that would pay four times the price for something just because it was company policy. It ended up the best decision he ever made.
The company that would not hire him in the first place ended up bankrupt a year or so later and ended up lying off 50% of there workforce. The business journals explanation of the company’s problems cited poor management practices, outdated business principals, and poor financial management as the main causes for company’s problems. My friend several years later became the CEO of the consulting company he worked for. The project manager of the bankrupt company was laid off and my friend hired him before he credit was ruined. The CEO of the bankrupt company defended his outdated business practices until the last days when he was forced to resign, and the company was dissolved, and the assets sold off to the highest bidder and the other 50% of there employees were laid off.
You see there are ways to overcome bad credit issues. My friend did hire a credit solutions company, and his personal consultant helped him repair his bad credit in the shortest amount of time. He does to this day have perfect credit again. He has built a hugely success business hiring people that have been laid off, or otherwise been put in a bad place, and ended up with bad credit. He says those that have been denied employment for issues out of there control become very loyal employees when given the opportunity to make things right.
My friend turned his bad credit experience into a very profitable learning opportunity. He uses his experience to create win/win solution or both his employees, customers and himself. Knowing that some of the smartest and successful people in the world have had financial problems that resulted in bad credit, or even personal bankruptcy, has open his eyes to a source of loyal employees and employees that do a great job for there clients.
